Try and find a more colorful fish, I dare you. We've been to several continents and most oceans looking, but this guy takes the cake. He's called a Mandarin Gobi and we found him under a town pier in South Sulawesi Indonesia. It was on a muck dive, which basically code for horrible "normal" diving conditions; there is no pretty coral, no reef fish, loads of trash, and terrible visibility. However, amidst all of those poor conditions you can find some of the coolest and most unusual creatures in the sea. Mandarinfish hide inside the reef all day long waiting for the twilight hour around sunset to emerge in the open where they perform a beautiful mating swim. We captured a cool photo of this very happy male on his way back to his hiding place to rest. "Mandarin"
Both of our aluminum mounting options have a modern feel and look "frame-less" from the front. There is no need for additional framing, they arrive in your hands, ready to hang.
Euro Mount: This option is frame-less when viewed from straight on but has a frame to edge on the back that is visible from the side that is about 1 1/2 inches thick. We use a double metal frame for added support. Default euro mount color is black but is available in silver as well. Please let us know if you would like the silver option. Euro mounts are usually recommended for larger images but they work well for all sizes. In our galleries, most pieces 12 x 18 and above are displayed with euro mounts.
Float Mount: This option looks like it is literally "floating" about a half inch off of the wall. There is a hanger on the back which you can use to hang the image with a nail or picture hanger. Float mounts are usually recommended for smaller sized images but can also work well for most sizes. At our galleries, most pieces 11x14 and smaller are shown with float mounts.
The vibrant look comes from ambient light reflecting off of the aluminum and the ink at the same time which results in the most luminescent art you will ever see. The images are so brilliant that people often ask if there are lights behind them! To top it off, the dye-infused aluminum process has unprecedented archival characteristics that will enable your piece to be radiant for the next 150 years.
Both options look amazing, let us know if you have any questions. We would love to help!
